Soap. Bar and Liquid

  Dindi Naturals

Dindi Naturals manufacture FANTASTIC natural bar and liquid soaps in the mountains of north east Victoria, Australia. The area is the Murrindindi Shire, hence the company name “Dindi” Naturals. The bars of soap are made in the old style cold process method which, in our humble opinion, produces the best, most luxurious kind of soap.

Their range is extensive and very creative with soaps like “Coriander Mint” (above), “Rainforest Lime,” and “Pepperberry,” to name but a few.

One of the commendable steps Pip, the founder of Dindi, has made is to exclude the use of palm oil in her formulations. Dr. bronner’s are a large concern. They can afford to set up in Ghana and ethically produce their palm oil. For smaller, artisan producers like Dindi and Beauty and the Bees, setting up their own operations in Ghana is not a viable option……yet!

Biome stock the range of Dindi bar and liquid soaps because they are completely free of palm oil.

Beauty And The Bees

Besides having one of the best names in the business, Beauty and the Bees is an honest, ethical manufacturer of seriously fine cold process soaps. If you don’t already know our position on cold process soaps, in our opinion, cold process is the ultimate way to make the very best soap. It leaves the natural glycerine of the plant oils in the soap which makes for soap that will not strip your body’s natural oils. This together with the absence of synthetic fragrances and colours makes for soaps that will not dry the skin like regular commercial soaps.

The owner and founder of Beauty and the Bees, Jill Saunders, has great story of emigrating to a peaceful, tranquil, pristine, and isolated Tasmania in Australia from a very hectic Margaret Thatcher run, 1980’s England. And so Australia was responsible for saving yet another Pom!

With the help of a little gentle persuasion from Tracey at Biome, Beauty and the Bees recently made a big decision and altered their formulations to exclude palm oil. It’s a testament to Jill’s integrity. She doesn’t only talk the talk. She walks the walk!

Dr. Bronner’s Pure-Castile Soaps

As we started investigating natural soaps Dr. Bronner’s impressive range of soaps kept popping up. And for good reason. They are luxurious! Emanuel Bronner, the founder of Dr. Bronner’s, was a master soapmaker under the guild system of the time. He went to the U.S.A. in 1929 and started Dr. Bronner’s in 1948.

These are excellent soaps that are made by an ethical company run by Emanuel Bronner’s descendants to this day. They do contain palm oil but it is sourced ethically and responsibly through their own company in Ghana where they ensure proper conditions for workers and sustainability of the palm oil they harvest.

The guys and girls at Dr. Bronner’s are doing everything right!
